Affordability - Environment - Home Rule
The affordability crisis across the country has reached such a point of ubiquity that it now even effects those in the more rural parts of our country. Florida is no different. Home prices and rents since the pandemic have sky rocketed and our state is home to the highest rate of inflation across the country. From groceries and insurance to utility and transportation costs, Floridians are finding it harder to survive and thrive in our beautiful state. There have been bills and policies proposed that would have improved the affordability of Florida but the current legislature has either sidelined or outright rejected those bills in favor of party politics. Aaron is determined to fight for our right to not be priced out of our communities and will pursue policies that provide permanent long term solutions to both the current and future affordability issues experienced by Floridians.
Public Health policy requires a holistic approach to address the needs of the citizens and accounts for the state of our food systems, environment, and access to healthcare. Our federal regulatory bodies have failed the American people. The State must step in to ensure the citizens are protected from hazardous materials in our products, food, and environment. We must expand Medicaid to help those who lost their coverage after the expiration of the pandemic era federal program. We need to support local farmers and community farming to bolster both the physical and economic health of our communities. Aaron understands the necessity to expand access to healthcare, limit citizens' exposure to hazardous materials, and support local farmers through policies such as farm-to-school programs and other community food projects.
Overdevelopment is running rampant all over the State of Florida and Treasure Coast is no exception. While we fight to preserve our way of life here, in Tallahassee they willfully disregard the wants of the local community. The passing of laws such as the Live Local Act (SB 102) restricts the power of local government and their communities to decide what's best for them and deliberately uses the cover of affordable housing to further empower developers seeking to make more money at the expense of the quality of life of the local community. Whether or not we need more housing is undebatable but there is a difference between smart development that emphasizes workforce housing and development strictly for the sake of profits. Either way these decisions should be made at the local level and not forced upon the local community by the State government or courts. Aaron seeks to place the power of development back into the hands of the people that know best about their communities.
Our natural environment is one of the most important aspects of life in Florida. Our conservation and wildlife areas and waterways are critical to the quality of life that has made the Florida lifestyle so appealing. It is our duty to prioritize the preservation of our environmental assets. There are technological solutions and policy recommendations that can create a permanent solution to our waterway issues. The people of the Treasure Coast are tired of having this conversation every 2 to 4 years to negotiate our water quality. The State of Florida working with industry partners needs to invest in improved technology and tactics to keep our waterways from being overrun by the toxic algae blooms. Aaron's young age and familiarity with new and emerging technology provides an opportunity for us to elect someone who is forward thinking with the intent of efficiently and effectively solving these problems rather than just increasing funding for half measured band-aid solutions.
In the first article of the constitution there is the implied right to a vote and that vote is regulated by the States. Florida used to be considered the prime example of a state that perfectly balanced election integrity with the ease of registering and voting. Over the last 20 years that has changed. Now Floridians are forced to deal with a clunky outdated system of registration and voting laws and regulation that rob people of access to the polls. No one should be dropped from a voter roll for not voting. There was no reason to increase the penalties of third part organizations who register people to vote. Florida should not have pulled out of the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), this decision has made our elections more vulnerable to deception. Aaron will fight to make your life easier in exercising your right to vote. Your rights should be as easy to take advantage of as reasonably possible.
